Suicides

Suicide - is an act of intentionally ending one’s own life. Nowadays there are a lot of suicides and, how it would be sad, most of them are committed in Lithuania.
All of us sometimes are thinking why people commit suicides but there is not jus one answer to this question. People commit suicides because they can not stop the pain, they can not think clearly, make decisions, get out of depression, they can not see the possibility of change, get someone’s attention or can not see to get control.
If we want to reduce numbers of committing suicides we have to notice warning signs of it. And they are ideation, substance abuse, purposelessness, anxiety, being trapped, hopelessness, withdrawal, anger, recklessness and mood change. Moreover, if our society learns and notices these warning signs I think really less suicide will be committed. Also, people have to show interest and support for those persons, be non-judgmental and do not lecture on the value of life. In addition to this, they also should not ask why a person tried to commit a suicide but offer empathy and do not dare to do this and course take actions.
And what is the most important thing it is to talk with someone because these persons are not alone with their problems. There are community mental health agencies, school counsellors or psychologists. Also, private therapists, family physicians and religious leaders who will help at any time they will be needed.
To sum up everything, suicides are a very big and serious problem in the entire world and especially in county. And we as future social workers should try to stop these massive terrible actions and raise awareness of our society about this huge and really horrible problem.
